Moving Changzhou’s Air Quality Management Pilot Forward

On December 14, Changzhou held the third Air Quality Management Training, organized by Changzhou Environmental Protection Bureau (EPB), Changzhou Institute of Environmental Science, and the Clean Air Alliance of China (CAAC). In the first session of the conference, domestic and international experts from the Chinese Academy for Environmental Planning (CAEP), CAAC, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory gave presentations on the upcoming 13th Five-Year Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control, pollution control in non-road mobile sources, city air quality management, and energy planning tools. Industry representatives from Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Jiaxing discussed their experiences with advanced air pollution control technology with the Changzhou EPB and leaders from Changzhou’s industrial parks.

Water Issues With China’s Energy Scenarios up to 2020 and 2030

In 2018, the Tsinghua-BP Clean Energy Research and Education Center studied water issues with China’s 2020 and 2030 energy scenarios. Researchers provided quantitative figures of water withdrawal and consumption in pre-specified energy scenarios, especially for 2020 and 2030. This is the first study to help justify the impacts of energy development on water resources and conservation targets in China. The research was supported by Energy Foundation China.
