From 2016 to 2018, Energy Foundation China supported the China Center for Energy and Transportation at University of California, Davis to summarize policies and best practices for the public transportation sector from different levels of governments in the U.S.

The resulting report collects policies and regulations from federal, state, and local governments that can promote and regulate the public transportation sector to help reduce greenhouse gases and improve air quality. It also introduces the actions and measures from cities of Los Angeles—a metropolis recovered from severe air pollution—and Portland—a world leader in fighting climate change.

This is the first comprehensive report that analyzes climate change policies and actions for one specific sector in the U.S. A list of policy recommendations was also compiled for the reference of Chinese policymakers.
