Pathway of Reaching Air Quality Standards and Carbon Emission Peaking in Demonstration Cities

In 2020, with support from Energy Foundation China, Tsinghua University completed this research on how to achieve air quality standards and carbon emission peaking with a single set of policies at the city level.
Taking Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang, and Huzhou as typical cases, researchers summarized best practices of the demonstration cities, before they presented a viable strategy and pathway for a synergetic approach to air attainment and carbon mitigation. This analysis can be helpful for coordinated policy implementation at the city level.
