In January 2020, Southern Weekly released this survey report conducted by Ipsos, with support from Energy Foundation China.

This research examined Chinese households’ consumption choices and low carbon actions regarding clothing and footwear, daily diet, home appliances, transportation, and other areas, aiming to present households’ current carbon capacity, and explore a low carbon consumption lifestyle more in line with today’s China. The survey analyzed 3,500 sample questionnaires collected from dozens of cities of different development level across China and eight focus group interviews held in Beijing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, and Haikou. Its findings can provide insight into how China can reduce its consumption-side carbon emissions and thus help promote a viable low carbon lifestyle.
