In March 2021, China Sustainable Transportation Center (CSTC) completed this report with support from Energy Foundation China, as a follow-up to the 1.0 version of the report published in 2019, which summarized feasible methods and tools for the co-control of air pollutant and GHG emissions in the urban transport sector.

Responding to policy signals from China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and on-the-ground feedbacks from pilot cities, the new report emphasizes more on multi-sectoral and multi-regional co-control work, and adds new content about new technologies and business models in the transport sector, including big data and artificial intelligence technology, zero-carbon emission taxis and car-hailing services, and the possible participation of the sector in the carbon market.

Compared to the previous report, this 2.0 version is updated to help Chinese cities achieve 14th Five-Year Plan targets and meet local demand of air quality improvement and carbon mitigation, which will help shape a decarbonized urban transportation future for China.
