Coordinated and developed by the China Office of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), in cooperation with GoldenBee Consulting, this report collects sustainability cases and other related materials, with the guidance from the Sustainability Advisory Committee of the Games and the Sustainability Division of the General Planning Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games. This report was published in July 2022, with support from Energy Foundation China.

Taking the International Good Practice Principles for Sustainable Infrastructure released by UNEP in 2021 as the benchmark, this report identifies and shares the good cases and practices on sustainability during the planning, preparation, and organization of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

The sharing of the good practices and cases, many of which are innovative, typical, and replicable, would be helpful for similar major events, and the infrastructure newly constructed or renovated in China and beyond.
