In 2018, Energy Foundation China supported Jin Yuefu, the former deputy chief engineer of the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, to summarize energy and emission statistics and review regulation for China’s transport sector. Many experts provided comments and made academic contributions to the study. With the effort from Mr. Jin and other consultants, the research provides a compilation of data and policies, which can be referenced for future work in this field.

This report collects statistics from official authorities and third parties, including on China’s economic and energy trends, automobile industry development, transport safety performance, and motor vehicle emissions control. In addition to the statistics, the yearbook also lists important standards and regulations closely related to the ongoing clean transportation transition in China.
