In August 2022, with the support of Energy Foundation China, the Shenzhen Xieli Innovation Center of New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicles released this report on how to promote heavy-duty electric trucks in Shenzhen, a city of 17 million people that has shown great ambition toward full electrification of vehicles.

The report also examines the application scenarios of battery swapping for electric heavy-duty electric trucks, and evaluates the technical, economic, and environmental benefits of this approach. Based on the research findings, this report designs a tentative commercialization plan for battery-swapping heavy-duty electric trucks in Shenzhen. The authors of the report hope it can help present scientific evidence as Shenzhen formulates policies for heavy-duty electric trucks.
