Manqi LI

Associate Researcher

Dr. Manqi Li is the Associate Researcher of Energy Foundation China’s Strategy and Planning section, where she supports office-wide strategy development by conducting data mining, modeling, and industry and academic research. Prior to joining the foundation in July 2022, she was an assistant researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, undertaking academic research on climate change issues, including China’s carbon neutrality progress and pathways. She also worked as a researcher at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea, mainly using remote sensing and machine learning to study terrestrial carbon sinks. Through more than a decade of professional training, she has found her interests in policy and decision making supported by data and technology.

Manqi holds a doctoral degree in earth science and geoinformation science from George Mason University, a master’s degree in geoinformation science and engineering from State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in association with Syracuse University, and a bachelor’s degree in geographic information system from Wuhan University.
