In May 2023, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the China Electric Vehicle Association jointly released this report about how to optimize the construction and operation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in China, based on their analysis of what is happening in Shanghai. The report was supported by Energy Foundation China.

It covers the progress of the electric vehicle industry, the practice of installing and running charging infrastructure, the benefits of vehicle-grid integration, as well as corresponding policy recommendations and solutions.

The authors hope their findings can help scale up electric vehicles, make the construction and operation of charging infrastructure easier, and in the long run support China’s sustainable energy system.
