In November 2019, board members of Energy Foundation China and senior representatives of international philanthropies in the field of climate change, environmental protection, and sustainable energy met Chen Jining, Mayor of the Beijing Municipality. Together, they witnessed the signing of a cooperation framework agreement between Beijing’s Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau and Energy Foundation China (2019-2023) by Chen Tian, Director General of the bureau, and Zou Ji, CEO and President of the foundation.

Technical innovations such as electrification will help push trucks in China toward net-zero emissions, said experts attending the Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero Emissions Summit in Bo’ao, Hainan province.

In early June, Energy Foundation China joined hands with the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development of Tsinghua University, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, and the Institutes of Science and Development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to host a “Post-Katowice Global Climate Governance” forum on the sidelines of the 2019 Annual General Meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED).

At the Chinese government’s Second Belt and Road Forum on April 25, partners including EF China launched the Belt and Road Sustainable Cities Alliance.

14 January 2019, Beijing – The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Energy Foundation (EF) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen their collaboration in promoting sustainable energy for economic development, and environmental protection in the region.

Eric Heitz, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of the Energy Foundation, will leave office on December 31, 2018 and start a new career, after working for the foundation for 28 years.

On December 7th, China’s National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC) and the China News Service co-hosted a“Climate Change Communication and Public Participation” side event at the China Pavilion of the 24th United Nations Climate Change Conference.

At the 2018 annual general meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), Energy Foundation China, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and the Institutes of Science and Development at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASISD) supported an open forum titled “Addressing Climate Change by Innovating Development Pathways” on November 2.

On September 11, the “Super Pollutants Day” that culminated in an award ceremony attracted much attention during the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco.
